YALA - Youth Access Leadership Association - is a not-for-profit organization based in London, Ontario that aims to emotionally empower youth in Canada and abroad by providing mental health services and psychosocial support programs.
We strive to help youth achieve high levels of positive functioning and to create a healthy balance in emotions, thoughts and social relationships that establishes a sense of mastery and personal growth.
Youth will be able to participate in finding solutions for the challenges that face their community, as well as actively reach out, train, and mentor other youth on how take a proactive role in handling community challenges.
Our programs help youth to integrate into the Canadian culture by building a strong sense of identity within their families, schools, and communities, and to build coping behaviors and self-regulation skills to manage issues related to racism, discrimination, and social marginalization as well as the lack of recognition of the immigrant's life and learning experiences.
We aim to increase youths' awareness, knowledge, and skills in practicing equity and inclusion in the community as well as developing advocacy campaigns to remove barriers that contribute to inequality and injustice.
To protect and improve the psychosocial well-being of youth, support their community engagement, strengthen their identity, and enact equity and inclusion through capacity building and psychosocial support services in Canada and abroad.
To connect and provide refugee and immigrant youth with culturally sensitive mental health and psychosocial support services.
Our work is guided by the values of healing, inspiration, enlightenment, engagement, empowerment, transformation, non-discrimination, and opportunity.
Your donation will help us change and improve lives through providing mental health support and education.
