Our Mission

To protect and improve the psychosocial well-being of youth, support their community engagement, strengthen their identity, and enact equity and inclusion through capacity building and psychosocial support services in Canada and abroad.

Our Vision

To connect and provide refugee and immigrant youth with culturally sensitive mental health and psychosocial support services.

Our Values

Our work is guided by the values of healing, inspiration, enlightenment, engagement, empowerment, transformation, non-discrimination, and opportunity.

Who are we?

YALA - Youth Access Leadership Association - is a Canadian not-for-profit organization based in London, Ontario that is committed to providing mental health and psychosocial support to refugee youth who are affected by conflict, epidemics, or disasters.

YALA's journey started in 2019 when a group of mental health professionals came together to use their progressive expertise in mental health, psychosocial support, and evidence-based practices to emotionally empower youth and their families and to support their community engagement. As mental health topics are socially stigmatized among the refugee community, the YALA team delivers services through a leadership- and community-based approach that supports social change.
