Community Leadership Program
The world needs more young community leaders now more than ever before. We need young generations who are engaged in their community and can support and empower other local youth, particularly within the refugee community.
Community leadership consists of a set of skills that can be actively taught and instilled in young people who will go on to make significant and much-needed changes and improvements in society. Young leaders are in dire need within the refugee community, which faces a significant number of challenges, including higher vulnerability to mental health issues and financial difficulties.
In this program, we aim to teach refugee youth what community leadership is, why it matters, and how youth can build the skills to become good leaders. We also address the challenges that refugee youth might particularly face on their path to community leadership, such as cultural differences and language barriers.
At the end of the program, we hope youth will learn the skills necessary to take initiative within their social circles and become better leaders in their communities. We hope they will be able to recognize the importance of leading the way for other more vulnerable members of their communities and the many opportunities that are available for them to do so.
