Self-Regulation and Resilience Building Program
Resilient refugee youth have the ability to recover faster from life’s adversities, such as culture shock, financial loss, exposure to war, or the loss of a loved one.
Some people have the ability to adapt well to life’s adversities and bounce back from challenges and obstacles faster than others. These individuals are more resilient due to a set of skills they have developed over time and experiences, such as positive thinking, good emotional regulation, confronting problems head-on, and developing a healthy lifestyle.
This program aims to educate refugee youth on the concept of resilience and the factors that contribute to individual levels of resilience, such as high self-efficacy and a strong social support system. It teaches youth techniques and practices to increase personal resilience in the face of difficult circumstances.
At the end of the program, participating youth will understand the importance of being resilient, and they will develop greater resilience that will serve them well during challenging times as well as the knowledge to continuously build their resilience in the long term.
